A Real Life ‘Tow Mater’ January 24, 2008
So I was driving to work this morning, and it was one of those rare occasions that I really wished I had a cell phone camera.
Now, in order to understand why this is funny, you need a little context:
if you’ve never been a NC resident, then ‘downtown Durham’ probably doesn’t mean anything to you, but let me describe it in one word: “Ghetto”.
Read that again, and emphasize both of the syllables: “Ghet-to”.
As in Jay-Z would fit right in.
As in Barack Obama is most definitely going to be the popular candidate in these parts.
As in I can buy knock-off Air Jordans at the GAS STATION.
So I’m driving through downtown D-Town this morning, and I pass a major junkster of a tow truck — the same one I pass every day — parked in front of a condemned house. But today I found painted in large letters of sloppy free-hand on the side ‘Tow-Mater’.
The more I looked at it, the more I realized that it looks just like the truck from “Cars” (minus the eyes and teeth like the one you see here).
I literally laughed to myself as I tried to picture what it would look like for a country bumkin, complete with Larry the Cable Guy’s voice, to make his rounds in Downtown Durham…
This concludes my rant for the day.
Yes, I’m that bored :0)

.this is exactly why i drive with the video camera mounted to the car and i also have a still camera.maybe you should carry a small thin still camera with you all the time.
